Visitors to Vancouver will have a new way to experience the waterfront after Vancouver City Council approved plans for a major floating hotel that brings guests directly onto the water in one of the region’s most scenic and central locations. “Sunborn Evolution Vancouver,” the name of the hotel by Finnish hotel developer Sunborn International Holding, will be located just north of the seawall of the West Building of the Vancouver Convention Centre, specifically on the water lot between the Hullo Ferries terminal and the iconic blue “The Drop” raindrop sculpture. Kelowna opts out of short-term rental limits after vacancy soars to more than 6%

Okanagan city has one of the highest vacancy rates in the country. The City of Kelowna is opening up more homes to tourists this summer after successfully lobbying the province for an early exemption to short-term rental rules. B.C. Housing Minister Christine Boyle said Kelowna has been showing "incredible leadership" in building new properties to boost vacancy rates in the city, making it the only jurisdiction in B.C. to qualify for the exemption at this point.
